The Low-Profile Camera [PC-1912] is a versatile analog high-definition device featuring a 150° horizontal and 80° vertical field of view, adjustable angle, infrared night vision, and a built-in microphone, all encased in a waterproof housing (IP69K).
It is typically used as a discreet backup camera, capturing a broad horizontal view of the vehicle's rear.
Mounting
The Low-Profile camera has two standard mounting locations:
- Top-Mounted – at the highest point on the vehicle's rear, capturing the broadest possible perspective of its surroundings.
- License Plate Mounted – aligned with the existing top mounting notches of the vehicle's license plate, allowing for easy mounting on light-duty vehicles where space is limited and drilling is discouraged.
Top-Mounted
-
Select the mounting location.
- Verify that there is sufficient clearance on and behind the selected location for the camera and for its cable to be safely routed into the vehicle body.
- If possible, connect the camera to a monitor or camera view tester before mounting to verify that the captured view is as desired.
-
Mark the locations for the camera's mounting and A/V cable holes.
- Hold the camera's base to the vehicle body and mark the two (2) mounting holes.
- In between the two mounting holes, 1.2" from the left mounting hole, mark the center A/V cable hole.
-
Drill the camera's A/V cable hole and mounting notches.
- Verify that the camera can be safely mounted at the selected location, if not already done.
-
Use a 7/8” hole saw to drill the A/V Cable hole in the marked location.
- Briefly hold the camera over the cable hole to verify that the mounting holes align with it.
- Use a 3/32" bit to drill the two (2) pilot mounting holes.
-
Mount the camera.
- Run the camera's cable through the drilled hole in the vehicle panel.
- Mount the camera with the two (2) self-tapping screws.
-
Aim the camera's lens.
- Loosen the two (2) small screws at the camera's sides.
-
Tilt the camera to aim it.
- If possible, connect the camera to a monitor or camera view tester to verify its view.
- Retighten the camera's screws once the desired view is captured.
-
Route the camera's cable towards its connection device.
- This could be a monitor, DVR, wireless transmitter, and/or object detection control box.
- Use A/V Extension cables to extend the camera's connection up to 30 m, and an A/V Splitter Cable to split the signal between multiple devices as needed.
- Follow the vehicle's OEM wiring and paths whenever possible.
- Secure the cable to the vehicle's wiring or body.

License-Plate Mounted
- Remove the vehicle's license plate and set it aside, along with its hardware.
-
Locate or create an appropriate A/V cable entrance for the vehicle.
- Some vehicles have a hole by the license plate that can serve as an entry point for the A/V cable.
-
Otherwise:
- Measure 1.2" from the left mounting hole and mark the center A/V cable hole.
- Verify it is safe to drill in the selected location.
- Use a 7/8” hole saw to drill the camera’s cable hole.
-
Mount the camera.
- Run the camera cable through the A/V cable entrance.
- Align the license plate and camera to the vehicle's mounting notches.
- Reinstall the original vehicle hardware to mount the camera and the license plate.
-
Aim the camera's lens.
- Loosen the two (2) small screws at the camera's sides.
-
Tilt the camera to angle it.
- If possible, connect the camera to a monitor or camera view tester to verify its view.
- Retighten the camera's screws once the desired angle is captured.
-
Route the camera's cable towards its connection device.
- This could be a monitor, DVR, wireless transmitter, and/or object detection control box.
- Use A/V Extension cables to extend the camera's connection up to 30 m, and an A/V Splitter Cable to split the signal between multiple devices as needed.
