The Mini-Dome Camera [PC-1921] is an analog high-definition device with a wide 180° horizontal and 95° vertical field of view, infrared night vision, and a built-in microphone encased in a waterproof (IP69K) housing.
Designed for maximum interior coverage, the camera ball can be rotated 360° around the base and angled 180°. It's commonly used to capture passenger seating and cargo areas.
Mounting
The camera is typically installed on a vehicle's ceiling, but can be mounted on any surface that provides the desired camera view. Camera A/V cables are typically routed through the vehicle's panel to conceal them, but the Mini-Dome's cable can also be routed through a notch on the base's side.
-
Select the mounting location.
- Verify that there is sufficient clearance for the camera's safe mounting and cable routing.
- If possible, connect the camera to a monitor or a camera view tester to verify that the selected mounting area captures the desired view.
-
Disassemble the camera.
- Loosen the three (3) screws on the camera's locking ring.
- Lift the locking cover and remove it from the camera assembly.
- Remove the camera ball and pull the cable through the mounting base.
- Hold the camera's base to the vehicle body and mark the mounting notches and center cable hole, if applicable.
-
Drill the pilot mounting notches.
- Verify that the camera can be safely mounted at the selected location, if not already done.
- Use a 3/32" bit to drill the two (2) pilot mounting holes in the marked location.
-
Prepare to route the camera cable.
- If routing the cable into a vehicle panel, drill a 3/4" hole in the marked location.
- If routing the camera cable through the base, run the A/V cable through the camera base and align it with one of its notches.
-
Mount the camera.
- Mount the camera's base with the four (4) self-tapping screws.
- Route the camera's A/V cable through the panel or camera notch.
-
Reassemble the camera.
- Insert the camera ball into the assembly and align the assembly with the base.
- Loosely reinstall the three (3) screws on the camera's locking ring.
-
Aim the camera.
- Rotate the camera ball so the white dot is aligned upwards (indicating the lens's top).
-
Tilt the camera to capture the desired view.
- If possible, connect the camera to a monitor or a camera view tester to verify its view.
- Tighten the three (3) screws on the locking ring.
-
Route the camera's cable towards its connection device.
- This could be the monitor or DVR.
- Use A/V Extension cables to extend the camera's connection up to 30 m, and an A/V Splitter Cable to split the signal between multiple devices as needed.
- Follow the vehicle's OEM wiring and paths whenever possible.
-
Secure the cable to the vehicle's wiring or body.
