Forward-Facing Camera

The Forward-Facing Camera [PC-1922] is an analog high-definition device with wide dynamic range (WDR) technology, which ensures the camera's footage remains clear and balanced under varying lighting conditions. Additionally, the camera captures a 130° horizontal and 70° vertical field of view, along with audio via a built-in microphone.

This camera is typically mounted on a vehicle dashboard to capture the road ahead in the highest-quality view.

WDR

Cameras with Wide Dynamic Range technology capture images at different shutter speeds, combining them to capture a complete view of both bright and dim areas without the glare of infrared lights.

Mounting

The forward-facing camera is commonly adhesive-mounted at the highest, most central unobstructed point of the vehicle's windshield. This includes vehicle shade bands, which would tint or obscure the camera's image.

  1. Mount the camera to its bracket.
    • Slide the bracket over the camera with the Pro-Vision logo facing the camera's rear (cable side).
    • Loosely attach the bracket to the camera with the six (6) assembly screws.
  2. Select the mounting location.
    • Verify the camera's housing doesn’t obstruct the driver’s view.
    • Check the bracket's fit on the windshield.
      • If the windshield is curved, bend the bracket so it may adhere as closely as possible to the windshield.
    • If possible, connect the camera to a monitor or camera view tester the selected area will provide the desired view.
  3. Prepare the windshield for the adhesive mounting.
    • Clean the area with the included alcohol prep pad or 70% isopropyl alcohol.
    • Wait for the area to dry or wipe it down with a clean paper towel.
  4. Mount the camera.
    • Remove the film from the adhesive tape on the camera's bracket.
    • Press the camera’s bracket firmly against the windshield.
    • Hold for 30 seconds.
  5. Aim the camera.
    • Tilt the camera to capture the road at the appropriate angle.
    • Tighten the six (6) mounting screws.
  6. Route the camera's cable towards its connection device.
    • This could be the monitor or DVR.
    • Use  A/V Extension cables to extend the camera's connection up to 30 m, and an A/V Splitter Cable to split the signal between multiple devices as needed.
    • Follow the vehicle's OEM wiring and paths whenever possible.
    • Secure the cable to the vehicle's wiring or body.
