3 Channel Monitors: Troubleshooting

The 5” Monitor [PM-1960S] and 7” Monitor [PM-1970S] are 3-channel HD LCDs. This article details troubleshooting instructions for these devices. 

Problem Possible Cause Possible Solution
Unresponsive Touchscreen and/or Buttons On Standby Mode – The device’s screen is darkened, and the [⏻] button is lit red. Press the [⏻] button to switch to active mode.
Locked Menu – The device doesn’t respond; an “UNLOCKED” is displayed instead. Unlock the monitor’s screen. 
Triggered Camera – The device doesn’t respond; a single camera feed or split-screen camera configuration is displayed.

+ Verify none of the trigger wires are activated (the turn signals are off, and the vehicle isn’t in reverse, for example). 

+ Ensure the trigger wires have not been connected to a constant hot power source.

Unstable or Fluttering Picture The monitor’s video resolution has been incorrectly configured. Reset the resolution configuration. Navigate to the SYSTEM menu and use the [ - / + ] to switch the configuration to “AUTO.”
The camera’s cables or connections are damaged/not correctly secured.  Verify that the power harness, camera, and A/V cable connections are secure and sealed.
Unstable power and ground connection. Verify that the monitor’s ground and power wires are correctly installed and secured. 
A monitor or camera component is faulty or damaged. Contact Pro-Vision’s support team.
Foggy, Unclear, or Darkened Picture There is moisture, dirt, or scratches on the lens.

+ Inspect the lens for foreign material and clean with a lens cleaner if possible.

+ If the lens is damaged beyond visibility, it may need to be replaced.

The monitor’s brightness and contrast settings are too low.   Adjust the monitor’s picture display.
Washed out picture There is excessive glare on the camera. Adjust the camera’s position to reduce glare from the sun/lighting. Use the monitor’s view when angling the camera.
The camera’s brightness and contrast settings are too high. Adjust the monitor’s picture display. 
No LED power light Blown fuse. Replace the 3A fuse connected to the monitor’s power cable.
The connection between the monitor and the power harness has separated. Verify the connection of the monitor power harness. Unplug and reconnect the harness.
Unstable power and ground connection. Verify the monitor’s power and ground wires are securely connected to an appropriate power and ground source.
Faulty Monitor. Contact Pro-Vision’s support team.
Rolling picture Faulty Monitor. Contact Pro-Vision’s support team.
Camera not displaying
(but [⏻] is lit green)
The selected feed is not connected to a camera.

+ Switch the monitor’s channel (press the [S] button).

+ Verify the A/V camera is connected to the expected input on the harness.

Faulty A/V cable, extension, or camera.

+ Disconnect and reconnect the camera.

+ Test the A/V extension with a different camera.

+ Test the camera using a different harness input. 

+ Visually examine the camera’s A/V cable for any damage. 

The temperature is lower than the camera’s operating temperature.  Except for the heated camera, all Pro-Vision cameras have an operating temperature range of -4°F to 158°F. If the vehicle regularly operates in extremely low temperatures, heated cameras are recommended.
