SecuraMax-Admin: Managing Live Permissions

The SecuraMax Live features allow users to view real-time device data, which may include online/offline and recording state, logged in user, Live Map location, and Live View audiovisual stream. To use Live, each user must be given specific permissions by their site administrator.

For more information on Live features and supported devices, see SecuraMax: Live Feature Overview.

Setting Live Permissions:

  1. Log into SecuraMax with an administrative account with active "Manage Users" permissions. If the account has the correct permissions, the site will display an "ADMIN" section on the top right navigation bar, next to the active user's name.
  2. Toggle open the "ADMIN" menu on the top right navigation bar and select "USERS / PERMISSIONS".
  3. A list of users will be displayed on the "User Management" page. Select the "EDIT" button for the desired user.
  4. The "Edit User" page will be displayed, showing the details and permissions of the selected user. Note the user's currently assigned "Group".
    •  In the example below, the assigned group for the user is "Captain".

  5. Scroll down to the "Group Permissions" section. User permissions are assigned by "Group": each user can be given permissions to specific features (i.e. Live Map and Live View) per group, including the group they are assigned to.
    • This section will display a table matrix of the various groups within SecuraMax.
    • Checking a box within a feature column will give the selected user permission to that feature for the group row.
    • In the example below, the selected user is in the group "Captain" (highlighted in grey). The user has permission to utilize the Live Map feature for devices assigned to users in the "Captain", "Sergeant", and "Officer" groups, but can only utilize the Live View feature for devices assigned to users that are in the "Officer" group .
      • The Live Map feature allows a user to view all capable devices on a map for selected groups.
      • The Live View feature allows a user to view real-time video and audio from capable devices for selected groups.

    • For additional information on assigning user groups and general permissions, see SecuraMax-Admin: Managing Permissions.
  6. Select the appropriate permissions for the given user on the matrix by checking each desired box. Note that a user must have "View" permissions over a given "Group" to be able to be assigned any other permissions.
  7. If multi-user devices are being used in the SecuraMax account, it is possible that the device may be online without a user logged in.
    • To allow the user to view devices that are online and not-logged in on the Live Map, scroll down to the Administrative Rights section and select the box next to the "Show Non-Logged in Devices on Live Map" permission.

  8. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the "SAVE" button to complete the configuration of the selected user's permissions.
