BODYCAM 4: Covert Mode

The BODYCAM 4 has a function to allow a user to enter a "covert" mode" that disables all indicators that the camera may be online and recording. Covert mode is designed to allow users to reduce the attention drawn to the camera by eliminating the indicators that it is online.

During normal operation outside of covert mode, the camera may do some or all of the following: (depending on configured settings of the camera)

  • Display a bright blue ring around the front Event Button to indicate it is recording
  • Provide audible tones every 5 minutes to indicate it is recording
  • Provide vibrations every 5 minutes to indicate it is recording
  • Display a recording indicator on the camera's display

When covert mode is enabled, all of the above indicators are disabled until the user exits covert mode or the camera is powered off and back on.

Entering Covert Mode:

To enter covert mode, press and hold both the F1 and F2 buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds. A covert mode indicator will appear on the camera's display and then the display will turn off after 2 seconds.

During covert mode, pressing any button will wake up the LCD screen, then it will turn back off after 30 seconds.

Exiting Covert Mode:

To exit covert mode, press and hold both the F1 and F2 buttons simultaneously again for 3 seconds. The covert mode indicator will disappear from the camera's display and all camera functions will return to their original state.
