The BODYCAM 4 has a function to allow a user to mute or unmute the audio recording feature while video recording. The "Mute Button" feature must be enabled in the BC4 Config for the camera/users to allow the button to be active.
Configuring the Mute Button Feature in SecuraMax:
Go to ADMIN > DEVICES > BC4 CONFIGS and then click the EDIT button on the desired configuration. Scroll down the list of configuration options, locate the Mute Button option, and then set this to On, continue scrolling to the bottom and then click the SAVE button. The next time the camera is docked it will synchronize the configuration and allow the user to use the mute feature.
Note: The mute feature only mutes/unmutes audio during event recording, so if the Event Audio Recording setting is set to Off, the Mute Button feature will not be needed as audio is always muted.
Configuring the Mute Button Feature in Connect (Formerly ECB):
On the server, open a web browser and go to http://localhost:5004. On the home page of the site select BC4 Config Profiles and then click the EDIT button on the desired configuration. Scroll down the list of configuration options, locate the Enable Mute Button option, and check the box, continue scrolling to the bottom and then click the SAVE button. The next time the camera is docked it will synchronize the configuration and allow the user to use the mute feature.
Note: The mute feature only mutes/unmutes audio during event recording, so if the Enable Event Audio Record setting is set to Off, the Mute Button feature will not be needed as audio is always muted.
Using the Mute Button:
When the camera is outside the dock and in a "Ready" state, the current audio recording state will be displayed on the camera's display. The camera's non-event audio recording state is dependent on a setting in the camera's configuration:
- If the camera has the Pre-Event Background Audio Recording setting set to Off, then the audio muted icon will be displayed on the camera's display to indicate that audio is not recording.
- If the camera has the Pre-Event Background Audio Recording setting set to On, then the audio muted icon will not be displayed on the camera's display because it is recording audio.
When the user starts and Event by double pressing the Event Button, the camera will begin recording. If audio is being recorded, the audio muted icon will not appear on the camera's display.
Muting Audio:
To mute the audio, press and hold the F1 button on the camera for 3 seconds, the audio muted icon will appear indicating that the audio is now muted.
Unmuting Audio:
To unmute the audio, press and hold the F1 button on the camera again for 3 seconds, the audio muted icon will disappear indicating that the audio is again being recorded.
Ending the event by pressing and holding the Event button for 3 seconds will reset the mute button to its original state. Muting the audio during the event will only apply to that specific event, users will need to manually mute the audio during each future event.
