The DR-200 Drive Recorder unit is a self-contained recording system. It combines the functions of a traditional mobile DVR unit, forward-facing camera, interior camera, GPS antenna, and event marker button into a single housing.
Wi-Fi: This shows that Wi-Fi is enabled. Wi-Fi cannot be disabled as the unit will no longer be accessible for programming without a factory reset.
Mode: This is the functioning mode of the Wi-Fi (AP or Client).
-
AP Mode: If this box is selected (default), then the unit can be accessed using a Wi-Fi connection from a laptop, tablet, or smartphone device. Changes to Settings can only be done in AP mode.
- SSID: In AP mode, the SSID is the name of the Wi-Fi.
- Password: This is the password for the connection.
- Client Mode: This allows the device to connect to a device's or a building’s Wi-Fi connection to allow the use of file transfer software.

IMPORTANT! All other settings on the unit should be changed before changing from AP mode to Client mode. Direct access to the unit will be lost after changing this setting. See “Preparing to Switch to Client mode” below for details.
- Saved Network: If a Client mode network has already been added, it will show to the right of the “Saved Networks” box as shown below. The device will connect automatically when in range of these networks.
-
Network SSID: This is the name of the Wi-Fi network that the unit will connect to. You can scan to show a list of networks in range, or press “Type” to manually enter an SSID name. After scanning, click on the “Network SSID” box to see the list of available networks, then click on the desired network from the drop-down list to select it.
- To change the Wi-Fi Name/SSID (this can only be done in AP Mode), type in a new Wi-Fi Name/SSID, then click the "Apply" button (bottom of the page).
-
Network Password: After picking from the scanned list or typing the Network SSID name manually, enter the password in the “Network Password” box.
- To change the password (this can only be done in AP Mode), type in a new password, then click the "Apply" button (bottom of the page).
1) Wi-Fi should be enabled. If disabled, a factory reset is required to re-enable.
2) IP Mode should be set to AP mode to change settings. Once settings are saved (click the "Apply" button), the IP mode should be set to Client mode (to allow automatic connection and video upload).
3) Network Password can only be changed in AP mode.
-
IP Mode:
- DHCP (recommended) allows the network to assign an IP address to the device.
- Static IP: If no DHCP server is available on the network, or there is a desire to set an IP address manually, this can be enabled to allow the device to use a static IP assignment for the connection. If enabled, more options will appear below for IP address, Subnet Mask, Gateway, and Primary/Secondary DNS. If another device uses the same IP address, the network connection for both devices will not function properly if both devices are connected to the network.
Preparing to Switch to Client Mode: After the Wi-Fi is switched from AP Mode to Client mode and the “Apply” button is pressed, the current AP mode connection will be lost and will no longer be accessible.
Temporarily Re-enable AP Mode: AP mode can be temporarily re-enabled. Unlock and open the SD card door, then press and hold the “Stop” button next to the SD card slot for 7 seconds until a single beep is heard, then release. The Wi-Fi AP will start using the previous Wi-Fi SSID name and password. It is recommended to document the SSID name and password before switching to Client mode for this purpose. To re‑enable Client mode, change the setting via the web interface or repeat the process to switch by holding the "Stop" button for 7 seconds until a single beep is heard.
Changes to settings, such as the Wi-Fi Name and Password, can only be done in AP Mode.
Once settings are completed, the IP Mode should be changed to Client mode (uses saved settings) to allow automatic connection and video file transfer (using Connect, CloudConnect, or SecuraMax).
