Connect (ECB): Manually Deleting a Video Request

The Connect server allows users to request videos from a device by specifying a date and video start and end times.
On rare occasions, the device may be unable to upload the requested video, causing it to repeatedly attempt to satisfy that request and block other requests until the initial one is fulfilled.
For example, if a six-hour-long video were requested from the DR-200, the device would try and fail to upload the video until that request was manually deleted on the Connect server.

To manually cancel a video request on Connect, you'll need the device's serial number, a computer with server access and administrator read/write permissions, and an SQL database editor (such as DB Browser for SQLite).

Identify the Device's Serial Number

If the device's serial number is unknown, it can be easily obtained from a computer with server webpage access:

  1.  Navigate to the server's webpage.
  2. Locate and open the device from which the request was made.
  3. Scroll down to view the requests to verify it's the correct device.
  4. Write down the serial number of the requested device.

Edit the PV Transfer Database File

On a device with access to the server, administrator read/write permissions, and a SQL database editor:

Stop PV Transfer Services

  1. Open the "Services" control panel.
      • Press the Windows key, type "Services" in the search field, and hit the [Enter] key.

  2. Scroll down to locate "PVTransfer2."
      • The services list is ordered alphabetically.
      • If you cannot locate PVTransfer within the list of services, the computer does not have server access.
  3. Right-click "PVTransfer2" and click "Stop."

Find and Copy the PVTransfer2 Database File

  1. Open the computer's file explorer and navigate to the PVTransfer folder in the computer's Program Data.
      • Type or copy and paste into the window's navigation bar:
      • %ProgramData%\Pro-Vision\PVTransfer

  2. Copy the "PVTransfer2.db" file to the computer's desktop or another directory with full permissions.

Locate the Device's Database ID

  1. Open the copied file in the SQL database editor.
      • Open the database editor and in the top right corner navigate to "File" > "Open Database."
      • Navigate to and open the copied database file, "PVTransfer2.db"
  2. Select the "Browse Data" tab.

  3. Change the "Table" to "Devices".

  4. Enter the device serial number into the filter column.
      • Locate and note the device's database "ID."

Locate and Delete the Request

  1. Change the "Table" to "Requests."

  2. Scroll right to locate the "DeviceID" column and type the device's database ID in the column.

  3. Once the device's requests are displayed, locate the request to be cancelled.
      • Note that the created DesiredStart and DesiredStop values on the database will be saved in the GMT zone, not the local time zone. The request should be the same.
  4. Scroll to the start of the row and right-click on the row's number.

  5. Click "Delete Record."

  6. Click "Write Changes" to save the database.

  7. Click "Close Database."

Copy the PVTransfer Database File

  1. Open the computer's file explorer and navigate back to "%ProgramData%\Pro-Vision\PVTransfer"
  2. Copy this edited database back to the folder.
      • The computer will ask you to verify whether you want to "Replace the file in the destination." Click to confirm.

Restart the PV Transfer Service

  1. Open the "Services" control panel.
      • Press the Windows key, type "Services" in the search field, and hit [Enter].
  2. Scroll to locate "PVTransfer2."
  3. Right-click "PVTransfer2" and click "Start."

Verify the Request Was Deleted

  1. Navigate to the server's webpage.
  2. Locate and open the device from which the request was made.
  3. Scroll down to view the requests. If you followed all the steps correctly, the cancelled request will no longer exist.
