CloudConnect: Requesting Non-Event Video

While CloudConnect devices automatically upload all event videos, non-event videos must be requested from a unit by specifying a start time and video length. To make a request, the user must have "Video Request" permissions, and the device must have "Background Recording" active.

To complete Non-Event requests most efficiently, request only the video length and the number of cameras needed to review the event. We recommend initially requesting only one camera for one to five minutes. This allows you to determine exactly when the event occurred and the number of cameras needed to capture the full scope of the incident.

Request a New Video

CloudConnect non-event videos can be requested by specifying the device, date and time, and video duration. To make a request, the user must have "Video Request" permissions, and the device must have "Background Recording" active.

  1. Log in to CloudConnect and navigate to the "Requests" page from the left sidebar.
    • You can also do this from the "Requests" section on the home page, or request a specific device by selecting it from the "Units" page.
  2.  Click the [New Request] button.
  3. Select a Unit to request.
    • "Unit" is the vehicle system registered to CloudConnect and will display as an assigned name and serial number.
    • Once a unit is selected, the connected camera's thumbnails will display.
  4. Select the cameras to request.
    • The thumbnails aid the selection, allowing the user to reference the selected camera's view; the images displayed are not live.
  5. Click on the "Start Time" box.
  6. Select the desired starting date, hour, and minute for the video by typing or clicking the start time's arrows [^] [v].
  7. Click on the "Length" box.
  8. Select the desired video duration. Only request the necessary length of video and number of cameras.
    • It is encouraged to request a single camera for 1 to 5 minutes to get an idea of when the event occurred, its duration, and the number of video cameras needed to analyze it.
  9. Type notes for the request.
    • These notes provide context for the video once the request is fulfilled, aiding in event processing.
  10. Type the email recipients.
    • By default, the CloudConnect email of the person making the request will be included in the transfer recipient email list.
  11. Click [Create Request].

Request Additional Video for an Existing Event

Once a request has been fulfilled, additional video length or camera views may be requested from the same event.

  1. Locate the desired request and click the blue button on the request's row.
  2. Verify that the request has a "Transferred" status–otherwise, it has yet to be fulfilled, and additional footage cannot be requested yet.

    • If the status row isn't visible, there are three ways to check the request status:
      1. Zoom out  ([Ctrl] + Scroll or pinch-to-zoom) to view more request rows
      2. Click on the request to view its details
      3. Click the blue button on the request row and select "Details."
  3. Select "Request Additional Footage" from the pop-up menu.
  4. When the "Request Additional Footage" module opens, the original start time, end time, and video length are displayed at the top.
    • Use these to verify that the opened request is the desired one and as a reference for the additional footage request.
  5. Select the desired camera views by checking the box in the bottom left corner of each thumbnail.
    • Previously selected cameras will be pre-selected. If you're requesting additional cameras (rather than additional time) ensure you remove the checkmark from the previously requested camera thumbnail.
  6. Select the additional time to request.
    • The drop-down list for possible times to request includes "The Same Time as the Original" (to request additional cameras), and 1 to 15 minutes before, and 1 to 15 minutes after (in intervals of five minutes).
    • Note the new start and end time of the requested footage.
  7. Type notes for the request to provide context and aid in event processing.
  8. Type the email recipients.
    • By default, this will be the CloudConnect email of the person who made the initial request.
  9. Click [Create Request].
