The Motion Sensor Kit searches for movement inside the vehicle when the DVR is powered off. If the sensor detects movement, it powers the connected DVR to record the system's cameras until motion is no longer detected.
In The Kit
- Motion Sensor [P/N:8050261]
- Control Box [P/N:8050262]
- Power Harness [P/N:8050263]
- Mounting hardware
How it Works
The kit's control box is installed between the Ranger's power harness and the device. When the vehicle is on, the Ranger functions normally; the vehicle's power, accessory, and ground signals run through the control box without delays or interruptions. When the vehicle is powered off, the sensor's control box receives the signal to search for nearby movement.
The passive infrared sensor faces the vehicle's door and can detect motion regardless of light conditions. When a detection is made, the control box activates the ignition to the DVR for the period that motion is detected and for an additional 30 seconds.
If the Ranger is fully off, the recording begins 15 to 20 seconds after movement is first detected; if the device is in power off delay mode, recording will begin almost instantaneously.
Installation
- Connect the kit's power harness to the "DVR" port on the control box.
- Connect the other end of the kit's power harness to the Ranger DVR's four-pin power port.
- Connect the motion sensor to the control box's right-side "SENSOR" port.
-
Connect the Ranger's power harness to the control box's left-side "POWER" port.
- The power and ground connections to the Ranger's power harness should be made as with any Ranger installation.
- Verify all connections are securely set.
- Route the sensor to its desired mounting location.
-
Mount the motion sensor with the dome facing the motion detection area.
- Mount the sensor's bracket and sensor with the two (2) provided screws.
