The Ranger DVR is a versatile and configurable digital video recorder. There are many reasons to connect to the device, and there are two ways to do so: Wi-Fi and Ethernet.
Connecting via Wi-Fi
Requirements
To connect to the Ranger DVR via Wi-Fi, you'll need:
- A smart device with Wi-Fi capabilities (laptop, tablet, or smartphone).

The Ranger's Wi-Fi network name and password.

- If the DVR is a new device or in its default configuration, use the default in the instructions below.
- If the network name and/or password information has been lost, you must connect via Ethernet to recover the Ranger's network credentials.

The Ranger's Wi-Fi must be set to “Access Point” mode.

If the Ranger automatically offloads to a cloud or server via Wi-Fi, it is configured to "Client Mode." To connect to the ranger:

- If the device is registered with CloudConnect, connect via the Shared network.
- Otherwise, connect via Ethernet instead.

Connect to the Ranger

Power the vehicle on and verify that the DVR's status LED is lit solid green.

- The event marker button LED can also be used as an indicator.
- Accessory power is enough to power the Ranger.

On the smart device, navigate to the network options and locate and select the Ranger’s Wi-Fi.

- The default Wi-Fi name will begin with "PV_Ranger..." and the last six characters are unique to the DVR unit.

Type in the Wi-Fi password when prompted.

Open a web browser on the smart device and type 192.168.1.254

This will connect the device to the Ranger’s webpage. If prompted, the default log in credentials are:

Connecting via Ethernet
Requirements
To connect to the Ranger DVR via Ethernet, you'll need:

An Ethernet (LAN) cable.

- The Ranger DVR's Ethernet port should also be accessible. This may not be true when connecting to test a Gen2 Stop Arm Camera. Follow the Stop Arm Camera 2: Post-Installation Testing instead.

- A laptop with an Ethernet port and a configured IPv4 address.
Connect to the Ranger
- Power the vehicle on and verify that the DVR's status LED is lit solid green.
- Plug the Ethernet cable into the Ranger DVR's port
- Plug the other end of the cable into the Computer's Ethernet port.

Open any browser and type 192.168.10.254 into the search bar.
