Windshield Mounting Prep for Cameras and Antennas

Preparing to install a windshield mount:

  1. Clean the mounting bracket with Isopropyl alcohol and allow it to dry.
  2. Press and hold the 3M VHB tape onto the mounting bracket for at least 30 seconds.
  3. Clean the window with a glass cleaner and wipe it down with a paper towel.
  4. Spray the window with 70% Isopropyl Alcohol or swab the area with an alcohol prep pad.
  5. Wipe down with a paper towel until the towel drags across the window. When the paper towel does not slide easily, the window is free of all the alcohol and ready for mounting the component.
  6. Hold the mount in the intended location to determine fit. If there is a curve, bend the bracket to match the surface before adhering.
  7. Remove the adhesive backing, firmly press the mount to the surface, and hold for 30 seconds.
  8. For best results, allow the adhesive to cure for 1 hour prior to attaching the component.
