The Stop Arm Camera 2 supports school transportation safety by automatically recognizing, capturing, and storing evidence of vehicles passing a bus that has opened its stop arm.
How it works
Opening the bus's stop arm triggers the camera to search for passing vehicles through its wide-angle lens. The camera displays a "SARM" notification in the bottom left corner of the captured image to signify that the stop arm is open.
If a vehicle passes the bus, the camera automatically recognizes it, creates a stop arm violation event, and stores the evidence of the passing. This is identified in the camera image by a "V" in the bottom left corner.
Once the stop arm is closed, the evidence of any stop arm violations is transferred as unique event folders to the "/StopArm" folder on the Ranger DVR,
What is in an event folder?
Each violation generates a unique "Event ID," which is used to create the folder and store the video, image, and metadata evidence of the violation event. The Event ID is a unique identification number produced from the device's serial number, date, and the sequential number of the event.
Example Event ID (Folder Name): 2307SA0001202410220002
-
- 2307SA0001 - Camera serial number
- 20241022 - Date of event: October 22, 2024
- 0002 - Event number for the day
Example Folder contents:
- 2307SA0001202410220002.mp4 - Wide-angle video of the event.
- 2307SA0001202410220002_forward.mp4 - Forward-facing license plate video of the event.
