Samsara: Single Camera Systems

The Samsara Solution has an Analog Camera Connector device that allows the connection of an external analog video signal for recording. Pro-Vision has multiple products that add vision capabilities to the Samsara Solution by providing rear and/or side video coverage and the integration of a driver-facing, in-vehicle display. A basic system includes a single camera connected to the Samsara Analog Camera Connector. This system can also include a display/monitor for the driver.

There are multiple single camera solutions available:

See below for more information about the installation, setup, and use of the systems.

The camera image must be flipped following the instructions below to appear normal during playback in the Samsara Interface.

Camera Image Mirroring

The rear camera is shipped with a mirrored image for use as a standard backup camera with a monitor. In this application, the camera should be switched to a non-mirrored image as it will only be viewed in the Samsara interface and not live in the vehicle. To switch the mode, turn the mirror/non-mirror screw on the back of the camera clockwise until snug.

See AHD Rear Camera for more device details and installation instructions.

See Samsara Products for information about the Samsara components, configuration, and installation instructions.

PV-1CAM-SIDE – Side Camera

This kit allows a single side camera to be connected to the Samsara solution for recording. Camera power is independent of the Samsara components and will be on whenever the vehicle ignition is on.

Includes
(1) Side Camera and (1) Camera Extension Cable

See AHD Side Camera for more device details and installation instructions.

See Samsara Products for information about the Samsara components, configuration, and installation instructions.

PV-1CAM-REAR-MON – Rear Camera with Display

This kit allows a single rear camera to be connected to the Samsara solution for recording while also connected to a display for viewing while backing up. Camera power is supplied by the Samsara Camera Connector and will be on whenever the Samsara Vehicle Gateway is powered on. The optional reverse trigger input allows the display to automatically display the camera view when backing up. The camera view will not appear on the monitor unless the camera is being recorded by the Camera Connector.

The image must be mirrored in the monitor settings to reflect a proper view.

Camera Image Mirroring

The rear camera is shipped with a mirrored image for use as a standard backup camera with a monitor. In this application, the camera should be switched to a non-mirrored image for proper viewing in the Samsara interface. To switch the mode, turn the mirror/non-mirror screw on the back of the camera clockwise until snug.

Monitor Image Mirroring (7" - 3 Channel Monitor)

When viewing an image from a rear-facing camera on a monitor, it is necessary to have that image mirrored for proper viewing by the driver. The rear camera is connected to the CAM3 (green) input on the monitor and that input will need to be mirrored. After installation is completed, turn on the monitor and press the “M” button twice to get to the “DISPLAY” menu. Select the CAM1 option (the first in the list of CAMs available) then press the “Δ” button twice to select CAM3, then press the “+” button to change it from “NORMAL” to “MIRROR”. The menu will close automatically after a few moments of inactivity.

PV-1CAM-SIDE-MON – Side Camera with Display

Camera power is supplied by the Samsara Camera Connector and will be on whenever the Samsara Vehicle Gateway is powered on. The optional turn signal trigger input allows the display to automatically display the side camera view when turning. The camera view will not appear on the monitor unless the camera is being recorded by the Camera Connector.
